OPC UA information models as code
Replace click-and-drag modelers and opaque project files with a readable YAML DSL. Diff it in Git, review it in pull requests, validate it in CI, and export standard NodeSet2 XML.
Type it with live completions, or describe your machine in plain English and let AI draft it.
Free while we launch. No credit card. Also in VS Code and your CI.

Why text beats click-and-drag
GUI modelers hide your model in a project file only they can open. A text model is something your whole toolchain understands.
Review every change
Line-by-line diffs in pull requests, not a binary project file.
Faster than dialogs
Completions, hover docs and live errors as you type.
AI can write it
An LLM writes text, not mouse clicks: describe a machine, get a model.
Yours to keep
Standard NodeSet2 XML in and out. No proprietary format, no lock-in.
One DSL, wherever you work
The same YAML and the same language server in the browser, your editor, your pipeline and your AI agent.
VS Code extension
The same completions, hover and diagnostics, next to your code.

Questions
What is OPC UA Modeler?
An editor for OPC UA information models written in a readable YAML DSL and compiled to standard NodeSet2 XML. It runs in the browser, in VS Code, on the command line and behind an MCP server for AI agents.
How is it different from a graphical OPC UA modeler?
The model is text, not a proprietary project file: you can diff it, review it in a pull request, validate it in CI and have an AI assistant draft it. The output is the same standard NodeSet2 XML any OPC UA server loads.
Can I start from an existing NodeSet2.xml?
Yes. An existing NodeSet2 file can be converted to the YAML DSL, edited, and compiled back, with the CLI, the REST API or the MCP server.
Which companion specifications are included?
34 OPC Foundation companion specifications, such as DI, Machinery, Machine Tools and Machine Vision, each readable as YAML in the gallery and usable as a dependency of your own model.
How much does it cost?
The Discovery plan is free while we launch, with no credit card, and includes 5 NodeSet2 exports per month. For more exports or AI generation, add a credit pack as you go, or move to Pro. Some companion models need a Pro plan. The pricing page has the current details.
Who makes OPC UA Modeler?
Sterfive, the company behind node-opcua, the open-source OPC UA stack for Node.js. Sterfive is an OPC Foundation member.
